Return to Prophetic Dreams

The Dream

Regina and I were in the high mountains, beyond the tree line, and discovered a pool of water. It was exceptional because we were in a desert, no other water was anywhere about, and a mountaintop was not where we’d expect to find water!

We knew that we needed to get this water to others and decided we must put it in glass bottles as plastic bottles impart a taste. This water was so pure it should not be polluted, or flavored, or altered in any way. We also decided the glass must not be tinted so the water could be seen more clearly. We knew glass bottles would be harder to distribute and that some places would not even accept glass but felt it was very important to preserve the purity of the water.

Scene shifts: Regina and I are at home discussing how to distribute and market the water. We realized that we couldn’t charge for it or let anyone else charge for it as “Someone had already paid the price.” So, we would need to travel around and give it away.

The Meaning

The mountain is a metaphor for the personal spiritual journey that all Christians are on. If we continue, we find “water.” Jesus is that water, “living water” as described in the Bible, (John 4:14 “14but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”)  When we find this “living water” we are called to share it with others in as pure a form as we can with no alterations, no additions or subtractions.

The Message

Without water there can be no life! As we grow in our Christian lives, as we each climb our own “mountain” in life, we choose how far up we climb. Some people accept Jesus, start out on the journey, feel it is too hard and quit. Some people find a comfortable place in their journey and set up camp far short of the summit. Then there are those who refuse to give up, who are determined and persevere, and do get to the top and find Jesus as the “living water.” Those of us who do find Him are called to go about and share the “living water” with others. This includes you! Although not all of us are called to full-time ministry, all of us are called to share what we have found with others (Matt 28:16-20). The dream reminds us to share the good news, that Jesus is “Living Water” in as pure a form as we can with no alterations, no additions or subtractions. And, we should not charge for it as Jesus already paid the price. Part of Jesus’ instructions to His followers was “. . . Freely you have received; freely give.” (Matt 10:8) So, this dream is a call to action to those of you who know Jesus, who know the Truth that He is indeed Living Water. As you reflect on the message of this dream, remember the ways that Jesus has refreshed, renewed, revived and restored your life! Ask the Holy Spirit to fill your heart with compassion, courage and boldness to share this Living Water with others so that they too, can know the Life-Giving Presence of Jesus!
